Chinch bugs are small and difficult to see. They are only about as long as the tip of a pencil. These bugs feed on moisture that is in the grass. Sod webworms are a type of moth larvae that eats grass blades. They are one inch long and are brown or green with dark spots. These annoying bugs leave jagged edges on the grass blades, turning them raggedy with only the plant veins remaining. Sod webworms also leave behind small, dead patches of grass that end up turning into large brown spots.
