Lawn Repair

Restore Your Lawn after the Flood

Most of us in Indiana are more concerned about getting our lawns enough water instead of too much. Summer heat or lack of rain can certainly take its toll. However, with the recent flooding and water damage that we’ve seen in the news in the wake of Hurricanes Irma and Harvey, we here at All Brothers Lawn Squad, LLC have been thinking about what to do when your lawn floods.

How Flooding Affects Your Lawn

Your lawn needs an adequate amount of water to maintain its full, healthy green state. However, too much water—especially due to excessive rains or flooding—can cause damage to your lawn. According to experts, “Too much water interferes with healthy grass growth and makes the lawn susceptible to pests and diseases.” Additionally, when water flows from other sources, you never know what type of chemicals or other sediment is carried with it and deposited on your grass.

What to Do about It

How do you bring your lawn back from a flood? At All Brothers, we recommend that you do two things:

  • Hire a professional who is an expert in lawn restoration. Lawn repair requires a bit more than a fertilization application. You need someone who knows Indiana grass and soil and who can give you the best plan for getting your grass back to good health.
  • Take preventative measures to divert future water away from your lawn. Our lawn care team can help you think through your water-response solutions and even help you get started.
